My dissertation on the classification and categorization of young refugees was awarded the Augsburger Wissenschaftspreis für interkulturelle Studien 2021. The jury concluded that my work contributes to better understanding how contact zones among refugees and non-refugees are negotiated in everyday life, thereby making clear which dynamics are in play and how social cohesion and intercultural exchange can be fostered. I dedicate my award to all who shared their stories with me, and who warmly hosted me during fieldwork.
