In August 2023, while conducting fieldwork in Mexico, I embarked on a new research endeavor. I teamed up with professional filmmakers to create a documentary exploring the relationship between scientists in Puerto Morelos and Sargassum.
Our aim is to provide insights into how these scientists perceive the arrival of Sargassum on Mexican shores, how they make sense of its occurrence, and explores their visions for the future coexistence with this algae. The documentary will delve into the complex interactions between various species in the Anthropocene era, shedding light on the challenges and current circumstances surrounding Sargassum.
