In my presentation at the “Waterworlding: Kulturwissenschaftliche Zugänge zu multiplen Wassern” conference, I examined changing coastal dynamics in light of Sargassum arrivals in the Mexican Caribbean. My research demonstrates how beaches and reefs are seen less as individual commodities of tourist commercialization and instead are increasingly embedded in narratives of environmentalism as tourism protection. It was enriching to exchange ideas about multiple waterworlds with like-minded researchers.
